The EXN4000 4-Gbps FC disk expansion unit is shipped with five, and up to 14, FC hard disk drives ineither 144 GB or 300 GB physical capacities. Each of these drives can be ordered in 10K RPM or 15KRPM rotational speeds. The 10K RPM disk is a 2-Gbps drive; the 15K drive is a 4-Gbps drive. With144 GB FC hard disk drives, each EXN4000 provides 2.0 TB of physical storage capacity. With 300 GBFC hard disk drives, each EXN4000 provides 4.2 TB of physical storage capacity.
The EXN4000 is a 3U disk storage expansion unit. It must be mounted in an industry standard 19-inchrack. The EXN4000 includes:

For operation at 4-Gbps, the EXN4000 requires that the N series storage controller be running DataONTAP 7.2.1, or later.

Customer responsibilities: Physical configuration and installation planning for the EXN4000 is a customer responsibility.Information about physical configuration and installation requirements, including equipment, site,and power requirements, can be found in theIBM System Storage EXN4000 Installation and Setup Instructions (GC27-2079).
A customer-supplied Ethernet cable is required to connect the machine to a server or Ethernetnetwork.
Cable orders: Fibre Channel cables are required to connect a Model 004 expansion unit to an N seriessystem. Cables can be purchased using Model 004 features.
Refer to theFibre Channel cable featuressection for cable requirements and information.
Installability: Estimated time to unpack a Model 004, install it in the rack, and perform a simplediscovery and configuration is one hour.
Security, auditability, and control
This product uses the security and auditability features of host hardware, host software, and/orapplication software to which it is attached.

Warranty period: Three years
Warranty service: If required, IBM provides repair or exchange service depending on the types of warranty servicespecified for the machine. IBM will attempt to resolve your problem over the telephone, orelectronically via an IBM Web site. You must follow the problem determination and resolutionprocedures that IBM specifies. Scheduling of service will depend upon the time of your call and issubject to parts availability. If applicable to your product, parts considered customer replaceableunits (CRUs) will be provided as part of the machine's standard warranty service.
Service levels are response time objectives and are not guaranteed. The specified level of warrantyservice may not be available in all worldwide locations. Additional charges may apply outside IBM'snormal service area. Contact your local IBM representative or your reseller for country andlocation specific information. This product is covered by the following types of service.
CRU service and on-site for other selected parts
CRU service: IBM provides replacement CRUs to you for you to install. CRU information and replacementinstructions are shipped with your machine and are available from IBM upon your request. CRUs aredesignated as being either a Tier 1 or a Tier 2 CRU.
Tier 1 CRU:Installation of Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If IBM installs a Tier 1 CRU at your request,you will be charged for the installation.
For machines with on-site same-day response service IBM will replace a Tier 1 CRU part at yourrequest, at no additional charge.
Tier 2 CRU:You may install a Tier 2 CRU yourself or request IBM to install it, at no additional charge.
Based upon availability, CRUs will be shipped for next business day delivery. IBM specifies, in thematerials shipped with a replacement CRU, whether a defective CRU must be returned to IBM. Whenreturn is required, (1) return instructions and a container is shipped with the replacement CRU and(2) you may be charged for the replacement CRU if IBM does not receive the defective CRU within 15days of your receipt of the replacement.

During the warranty period, warranty service upgrades provide an enhanced level of On-site Servicefor an additional charge. A warranty service upgrade must be purchased during the warranty periodand is for a fixed term (duration). It is not refundable or transferable and may not be prorated.If required, IBM will provide the warranty service upgrade enhanced level of On-site Serviceacquired by the customer.
