For those who come along later, note that MPG123 only supports mpeg3 files, and many radio stations are now streaming MPEG4. To get that to work, you’ll need to figure out how to install VLC and to get it to work. It may also be a good idea to update mpg123 to a newer version.

Hello,
I have problem with mpg123 music player. When i try listen music mpg123 wav.wav I have problem :
[root@localhost leszek]# mpg123 personalintro-1.wav

[module.c:110] error: Failed to open module oss: file not found
[audio.c:179] error: Unable to find a working output module in this list: esd,oss
[audio.c:464] error: Failed to open audio output module
[mpg123.c:775] error: Failed to initialize output, goodbye.
Can anybody help me?
I'd recommend using native mp3 support that is available in CVS HEAD, as madplayer mp3 decoder gives a lower quality sound (audibly more cranky/noisy).
Had to do some digging to find out what you were talking about - I guess you are referring to the section 'Using native Asterisk format_mp3 for Music on Hold*' found here:Some of the comments suggest that this solution is far from robust. Would be interested in hearing others experience with this solution for MoH.
Use madplayer instead. There are several reasons why Digium & the Asterisk community should part ways with mpg123.
